Free From Cakes

In our Bury St Edmunds bakery, we have spent a lot of time perfecting cakes suitable for every dietary requirement. We can offer vegan, dairy free, gluten free and egg free options in a wide variety of styles. It has been really interesting working with alternative ingredients to find the best substitutes.

Vegan Cakes

Our vegan offerings have oil to replace the butter in the sponge and raising agents from either baking powder, banana or flax seeds (depending on the cake). For decoration, we use plant based spread in the buttercream instead of butter.

Dairy Free Cakes

For dairy free cakes, the sponge ingredients are similar to vegan cakes but we use egg as the raising agent. For decoration, we use plant based spread in the buttercream instead of butter.

Gluten Free Cakes

Gluten free cakes will have gluten free flour used in the sponge - this is typically a mix of rice flour, potato starch and maize flour..

Egg Free Cakes

When we are asked to make an egg free cake, we use raising agents similar to vegan cakes - usually baking powder, banana or flax seeds.
